Flood

Rain, rain go away come again another day! Have a look here to see what it is like!

Today it is not raining but there is much more on the way. The flooding is quite bad in many parts of the country, one of them being Gloucestershire where many of my family live. My sister is having trouble getting home as many of the roads are closed and they are now ironically without fresh water due to the water treatment plant being flooded. My father (in his 70's) has had to dig a trench around my sisters house to stop water entering as her garden was flooding and the playing field behind his own home looks like a lake! Right now (Sunday afternoon), the water levels are rising due to run-off from higher ground and it is due to get worse. there is also more rain on the way next week. Perhaps an ark is not such a bad idea!

I went up yesterday and was lucky to get through. Many roads were flooded and there were abandoned cars on roads where people had just had to leave them. I was determined to go and see my mother however. The news is not great. My mother has 14 different know medical problems, among them diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, renal failure, asthma and infected cellulitis. She needs antibiotics to treat the latter but is allergic to many of them and also it is a big strain on her kidneys. If they treat one thing it has an adverse affect on something else. On top of that some of the vertebrae in her back are out of alignment and are crumbling. We are waiting to see what the specialists say next week. Mum had a bit of a break down when she was faced with the enormity of what was happening to her. It really shook my dad up and he seems very worried. I hope they have something positive to say next week. Fingers crossed.

Still holding out for some sunshine here. meanwhile wish me well for this week. I have a lot on my plate so please be patient if I don't get to visit you as often as normal. Thanks :)

Please don't feel that you have to apologize, Bob-kat. With all you have to deal with, it is no wonder if you can't get time to blog and read. I was hoping the news about your mom would be better. My mom was almost that sick in her last few years, but she wasn't diabetic that we knew of. I am sorry that she has so much trouble with medication. Send your rains over here, please. We are having a drought! Michele sent me.

I am so soirry to read this news about your Bob, dear Bob-Kat...It is a terrible thing when there is so much going on in the body and when the cure for one of them is bad for other organs...I really feel for your Mom...Poor dear....(And maybe it is a good thing her breaking down...obe cannot carry all this in the body without that safety valve...and that is what it is...it's the body's way of letting off steam...
My prayers are with her and you and your Dad....
Not to worry about blogging, my dear...everyone understands and my heart is with you.

Berkeley meadows are now under about three feet of water (and portaloo contents by all accounts), and it's looking like Joust next weekend is under threat too.....

I'm so keeping my fingers crossed for your mum, honey. And sending 'strength wishes' to the family.

There's a lot going on in your life at the moment, take it easy at work - don't wear yourself down..

Come here via Michele - can't have you being skipped.......so glad I did. I've not been online much today.

I saw the flooding on television today, and my first thought was of you; I had hoped you were not affected. It appears that though you are okay, you are still affected indirectly. How sad...

I'm praying for your mom's health, and for the rest of your family (and you) as everyone deals with the enormity of your mother's health issues.

Michele sent me to tell you that I'm saying a prayer for your mom and your family. I agree with Noami, maybe it's good for her to "let off steam".
I hope things begin looking up for you and yours soon.

My thoughts are with you and your family. It's never easy to deal with a parent's illness.
I hope the water recedes soon. As many before me have said, we are also having a drought where I live. Too bad we can't split the difference.

BK I find myself thinking of you a lot lately.

That flooding is horrendous. I wish we could get a little of your moisture down here in the southern US. My area is in the worst drought we've seen in 100 years. Thankfully we've started getting some afternoon summer showers the last couple of weeks, but it's no where near enough to get us out of trouble. It's pretty much just enough to keep me from riding my motorcycle to work :)

I will continue to pray for your mother and family. There is a point where all you can do is be there for them. The rest is up to the Lord.

Is your boss back from vacation this week? We (my company's Customer Service Manager and myself) begin a two week long training schedule tomorrow on some workflow changes and a new job ticket....oh joy! People love change....not!

Hope you have a wonderful week in spite of the difficulties. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I know what you mean by rain! When it rains here it rains not only for days on end, but weeks. Why do you think I love glimpses of sunshine for?

I'm sorry to read about your mum. I hope she improves really soon Bob-Kat. I really do.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I'm praying for her, and about the floods.

We had periodic flooding in the area in Louisiana, USA where I grew up. It's one of the worst feelings to see the water level creeping inevitably toward your home.

So sorry to hear about your mom. Holding positive thoughts. The human body is an amazingly resilient and recuperative thing. Just as many wonderful things could happen as not. Think positive.

I have friends over there who've told me about the flooding. Amazing.
