Spring clear out

It's been a bank holiday weekend here in the UK so I took full opportunity of the extended weekend to get round to 'things-I-have-been-putting-off'. Like clearing up the spare room that became a bit of a dumping ground for 'stuff' ever since my separation. Talking of which that was over a year ago now so it was definitely high time I sorted it out.

Going through the boxes turned out to be quite a cathartic experience for me. I still couldn't bring myself to throw some things out. I couldn't quite part with some of my wedding memorabilia. The fact is that it is a piece of my past and I will keep it for now, lest I regret too great a purge. So I have stowed it in the attic to deal with another time. But many things did go and I have a huge pile of things to take to a car boot sale sometime soon. The cash will go towards my planned holiday in Vienna. Out with the old and in with the new. Seems apt for Spring somehow.

The photos are of the Clematis I have growing in my garden. It is a trailing plant and every year I cut it back a little to encourage new growth and it brings forth these lovely blue / purple flowers on the new growth. I am not one to get over sentimental but the analogy seemed apt for my clear out. I took these photos the other day. Hope you like them.

Well, you know I think they are just GORGEOUS, STUNNING and incredibly BEAUTIFUL, too! That first picture is a perfect perfect photograph, to me, my dear. It's got everything I want in a photo!
It must be thrilling to see this in full blown bloom...Does it get a lot of flowers? I hope so! (LOL)

The flowers are gorgeous.
As for the cleaning out, I have now been divorced longer than I was married... 19 years this coming December. I did a purging... there was very little sentimental stuff left to our marriage as he was never a sentimental guy. My wedding band had been lost four years before the final split and I tossed (burned) the notes he sent me through the years. I also burned the notes I sent him... every day in a hand made lunch I wrote a little note... every day for 12 years. I think I got rid of the five total notes and cards he sent me and I don't think he missed the notes I sent him.. The only thing I saved from the marriage was my wedding photo album and only for Nyssa... I think she gets a kick out of the styles of dresses and hair or the lack thereof. So, good luck and carry on.

A car boot sale is similar to a garage sale? You are going to Vienna? My brother lives there, or rather has his apartment there. He usually is on the road.

Lovely flower pic. I've also been throwing away and moving 'stuff' from indoors to elsewhere. As you say, a lot of decisions in teh process.

The color on your clemantis is really wonderful, BK. I wish mine looked like that. And that I had pictures that came out so well.

You do need to be in the right frame of mind to spring clean...or you have to be forced! I was forced when we moved and now we only have half of the junk we use to!

Thanks for stopping by!

Those are beautiful Clematis! Do they smell as wonderful as they look?

Doesn't it feel so wonderful to get organized? I was just thinking about Clematis. I planted two last year and they were beautiful. We don't have very cold winters here, so I'm wondering why they haven't come back. I guess I'll have to plant them again. They were purple like yours.

Beautiful flowers. And I think you are right to purge some and save some. You can always throw things away later, but you cant get them back if you throw them away too soon.
