Scrubs

I'm a big fan of comedy. Lets face it, who doesn't like to laugh? It's often hard to find decent television comedy though. Many of you will have heard of Scrubs even though you might not have watched it. As the name suggests it's set in a hospital and follows the medical career of JD a trainee medical doctor and his best friend, Turk a trainee surgeon. I happened on this a few years ago when I switched channels and have watched ever since.

So what keeps me watching? It's well written for a start. It's a strange mix of lightweight silliness and occasionally dark comedy. It uses comedy to explore emotion, relationships, life and death often in an oddly touching way for a comedy.

While I'm away in Brussels I thought I would leave you with the following clip. It features Colin Hay singing 'Overkill'. In the episode the main characters have just fallen out after finding out things about each other that they would rather not know. The episode follows them trying to cope with and then overcome the situation. I hope you enjoy it.

Zach Braff: my artistic hero. Did you happen to see his film, Garden State? If not, I highly recommend it, as it serves as proof of why he is one of today's major talents.

I'm glad this show will have a long life in syndication. It really is top notch, thanks to him.

I agree with Carmi, BK. Garden State was a pretty good movie. I've got Last Kiss, another Zach Braff movie, at home but I've not watched it yet.

I love Scrubs. I have ever since the first show aired. The stream of consciousness approach combined with the extreme narcissism of JD makes the show memorable.

I watched the first few episodes and then dumped it out of total boredom.

Finally - something we don't agree on!! :-)

Good luck in Bruxelles, my dear :-)

Just another example of why I'm addicted to your blog Bobkat. I love this show.

Have you ever caught the bug for "The Office"? That one I cannot live without.

Have a great time!
I have seen scrubs but never got into it. It reminded me of the film the senior class in med school always made.... I try not to remember those days.
