Blooming Lovely

I have three orchids which I keep in my bathroom. Each one was a 'rescue' from the store as they had finished flowering and no-one wanted them. They were put in the mark down section and left. I guess if no-one bought them then they would have been composted. I am a sucker for the under dog!

I had no idea if these plants would flower again but I have been rewarded with flowers every year. I don't do anything special and I had never kept orchids before. My ethos if a plant is not doing well is to move it or check the watering and feeding. My orchids are flourishing so I must be doing something right!

This type is a phaleonopsis orchid and I love the contrast between the pure white of the petals and the bright colourful centre. In the background you can see another bud which is yet to open. I took this picture the other day. The sun was catching the flower and being me, I just had to take a photo.

Love Orchids! Since you have such good luck with your Orchids please tell us what it is you do? I mean, how can you tell if it's too much water or too little? And is there a time when it just doesn't look good because it is going into dorancy? Many questions, my dear...lol!

Yes do tell. What do you do to keep them going. I had a plant once and it didn't seem to like any place I put it or what I fed it or how much it was watered or not. I had much better fortunes with African violets.

kzlqmUgh, blogger ate my first comment! They love humidity, but not too much water on the roots. I have not been able to keep one blomming, so my hat's off to you!

Oh you are very clever growing those orchids. I thought they were difficult to look after so you are obviously doing something right!

Beautiful.Relationships are like that too.You nourish them, they need contsant care--you cannot see concrete results right away--and then BOOM--one fine day there is so much beauty.Dont you agree?

I suspect my house is too cold in Winter for orchids, B-K, but they certainly are lovely.

Cool. I never thought about putting flowers in the bathroom. It'd probably suffocate.

Beautiful! I've noticed that one of my orchids is sprouting a new offspring, and it hasn't even finished blooming yet.

Ah...you have a way with plants. some people just do - my husband was able to keep all my plants alive when I would have killed them!

Michele sent me this a.m., but I am generally a regular visitor!

Once again I'm here to leave you a comment about your gorgeous orchids!!! I have a black thumb and manage to kill Cacti (pretty hard to do when something doesn't need all that much water and attention).
Sorry Blogger is being pooey!
You're orchids made me smile today!
Michele sent me (twice!).
