A Little Walk by a Moat

I really enjoy a walk in the evening after a long day slaving over a hot desk. Have you noticed that all the places I like to go have water? This is Caerphilly Castle in Wales, UK which is a wonderful place to visit. It stands on a central island surrounded by a moat with all sorts of ducks, geese and other wild fowl living there. The castle is one of the largest in the UK (second only to windsor Castle) and was built in 1268-1271 by Gilbert de Clare, the Anglo-Norman Lord. I have been into the castle which is impressive as much of it is fairly intact but even when it is closed a walk around the perimetre shows how formidable this structure is. Just another place I like to visit.

What I've noticed is that you like to take a LOT of little walks! I wish I had such fabulous places to walk at ... then I would probably love to take lots of little walks too!

As ever, Wendy sent me!

Is it always lit in that fashion? It seems very dramatic. It's very impressive to think that hundreds of years ago this structure was built, and here it is today, still standing as a representative of the past.

Yes, the castle is always lit up in the evenings like that. It always looks fabulous against the evening sky with the setting sun adn my photo doesn't really do it justice. We are lucky in the UK to ahev lots of wonderful old castles.

I swear...I'm gonna have to relocate so I can enjoy these places with you! If I could just visit ONE of them, I'd be happy! Saw you over at Wendy's and decided to stop by :)

Scenes like this make me so jealous! While the U.S. has some amazing sites, we have nothing with such rich history as this!

I'm grateful for the cyber-walking I am getting to do here.

Thanks, Wendy, for sending me this way!

Wendy didn't send me; I came all by myself! I just wanted to let you know I'll be adding you to my link list. I hope I get to see more cool pictures in the future!

The US has plenty of history btw :-) You are only thinking of the European conquest, 15th century onwards. I seem to recall you had some chaps called Indians previously?? Sadly though, I agree, not castles or fortifications of this scale.

I feel so small when I see these impressive castles with so much history behind. How wonderful!

LOL...I have the very same problem Bob-Kat...My typing is with one finger and I make a lot of mistakes, very often! It is embarassing cause I sometimes don't see them until the comment is printed! So, I understand and not to worry...I actually understood everything you said, perfecly!
