Scar Neck

The staples come out today (Thurs), hoorah! I really cannot wait. They are getting quite sore now and I am sure it's because my body is rejecting them and wants them out as much as the rest of me.

It will be so nice to move my head properly again as the staples pull when I move it. In fact, it will be nice to move my whole body properly again. You don't realise how much you use parts of your body until you can't any more. Simple things like sitting up and turning over in bed have become quite awkward because I haven't been able to twist my neck. Thank goodness my tummy muscles have been strong enough to compensate!

Still, I am on the mend nicely but have been oh so sleepy! I have never napped so much in my life and apparently it's due to the pain killers and the vestiges of the general anaesthetic in my system. I have spent my time dozing on the sofa with films playing. Never have I watched so many half films but on the whole I have seen them before and most favourites I can pick up and put down again like a much loved book and know exactly where I am.

Anyway, I will post a pic later of how my neck looks once it's destapled! I'm not looking forward to the process but I am looking forward to being staple free!

Update: I have now dispensed with my retro punk look, however there is no pic as promised as I have a dressing on for the next 48 hours to protect the wound. It didn't hurt too much at all, and I only felt discomfort on one or two. I'm a little sore right now but the nurse assured me that I was healing nicely and didn't think the scar would be too bad. Fingers crossed.

I also have my next appointment with my consultant now to get the path lab results. I find out exactly what Hector was on 28th January. Fingers crossed for that too. I really don't want to have to go through this again any time soon.

If you're getting destapled, I suppose you won't need the Brasso then.... :-)

as I said in reply to your comment on my blog...when you get the staples taken out..try not to nod for a few days!..and if you do, hold your hands out in front of you!....but seriously,I'm not suprised by your tiredness...a GA is a major thing...

I hope that getting them out will not be painful and that you will be very much better very soon.

Anesthesia always makes me feel like an old wet mop; limp and useless.

Good that you are on the mend and full of new films.

Good luck with the destapling and I won't mind if you don't post too many pictures(!)

So happy to read the staples are out, out, out! Hooray! I would bet the healing will go evcen faster now because you don't have the awful discomfort of those staples....! I hope you continue to get GOOD Rest, B-K.....that too helps so much in healing.
I smiled when you talked about falling asleep watching familiar films.....I have a whole bunch of "tapes"...(Yes, tapes...lol) That I call my 'sleep' tapes....I use them for just that purpose. And they are all films I love and I can only assume, relax me and before you know it....I'm asleep!
Fingers still crossed for the results report, my dear!

Oh I see where CQ is coming over to see you...How wonderful to have the company of dear CQ!

I'm glad the staples are out. Have you acquired any cool scarves yet?

Bobkat said...

Oh yes Bunnygirl. I got me a long black chiffon scarf and two long fringed ones which are quite thin and sparkle (one silver and black, one bronze and gold). They were a bargain too as I got each of these for £2 each down from £12! :)

We are glad the staples are out. All of that sleeping is probably good for you and will help you recover faster. Enjoy those half films!

Saw your Facebook status update and have to admit it made my day. Was thinking about you yesterday, and am glad the removal went well.

Hugs to you from my entire brood on the wrong end of the Commonwealth.

Oh, where are my manners: I popped by from Tanya's. We're doing everything we can here in the Great White North to keep our extremities from freezing solid. Typing definitely seems to do the trick.

Your comment about the scarves got me laughing - now THAT is a picture I would truly love to see.

I'm glad things are working out - errr, pulling out, and I'm happy you are on the mend.
