I'll do it tomorrow...

This is what I tell myself everyday. I'll get round to it tomorrow; I'll have time tomorrow, I'll definitely do it tomorrow. Of course, for me at least, tomorrow always seems to be, well... tomorrow.

So another week has passed where I haven't been able to get round to blogging. Sure, I've managed to visit some blogs over a sandwich at lunchtime and have promised myself that I would return later and comment and then just haven't had time to visit again. I am finding it all quite frustrating and I am missing the virtual interaction I have with my blog friends.

The reason? Work of course! As you know I started a new job in July and it has been a pretty steep learning curve. Add to that the fact that two of the projects I am looking after (I provide technical advice and assurance to projects) have turned out to be far more difficult, with extremely challenging deadlines and difficult personalities involved then this has turned my steep learning curve into a vertical take-off! I have been coming home feeling very drained, very tired and a wee bit snappish on occasion. Twice I have been given projects whose emergency has become my crisis and twice I have had to rearranged my workload last week. I am old enough and experienced enough to know that last minute changes are the norm in life but I do feel that I have had more than my fair share given my newbie status in this job. Gripe over.

Anyway, the long and short of it has been that I have had less time and energy to blog and do other stuff as well. This week is going to be another corker but I am hoping that things will settle down after this and my vertical take-off will cease before I reach orbit. Thanks for popping by and I will be by to visit as soon as I can.

Don't apologize; we miss you, but we'll be here when you have time.

[chuckle] I suffer really badly from the "I'll do it tomorrow" too ... Me lazy :-)

I guess the only constant we have at the moment is change - especially with the various "transformation" things going round at the moment. The metaphorical "They" say that change is the only way to go forward but sometimes, it would be good to take a breath, take stock and figure out the best route for the next change. Constant change doesn't really allow that.

I have a work-change coming very soon too, hopefully it will mean more techie content for the job :-)

Obviously your new boss has great faith in you and what you are capable of.

We will still be here when you return. Things may have changed, but we will still be here.

Look after yourself.

"Been there, done that, bought the souvenir T-shirt," as they say.

Hang in there.

Cheers.

Yeah, settling in can take forever at times. I made some changes back in July, too, and am only now starting to feel comfortable.

Give it time. We'll be here when you're ready.

I love your term "vertical take-off" and the picture is priceless.

I remember I major, take 10 steps up promotion I got many years ago. I was so overwhelmed!! and exhausted and cranky.

Then an older and wiser friend reminded me that I was missing out on all the fun of a new job, new tasks, new challenges and I was ruining the pride I should be taking in myself.

She had a point and switching my reactions around a bit made me feel more resilient.

We'll be here! Just move forward a bit at a time.

I'm reminded of the need for one of those round tuits that we all need sometimes. You know, 'I'll get around to it".

I am exhausted just reading about ALL that you are contending with, my dear...! (lol)
I DO hope it eases up for you, and very soon! All Work And No Play.....well, you know the rest!

I feel your pain darling. My job entails one deadline after another and there are ALWAYS last minute changes and it ALWAYS drove me nuts to have to accommodate those even if I knew they were bound to pop up. But then... of course I didn't know I was on the verge of a burnout then...

About putting off things till tomorrow, I say give yourself a break. Blogging shouldn't be an obligation the way work is—but getting some much needed rest after a hard day's work should definitely be your priority. It's always a bonus when you leave a comment but I definitely don't hold it against you when you don't!

Be well and rest easy.

Totally understand the big change thing. I am on the opposite end meaning that I am going through empty nest where I find my house very big and lonely with no kids to take care of. Can be just as stressful. I'd be happy to share some of your work. In the meantime, even a 10 minutes break can really take a load off stress. You may think you don't have time, but if you try it, you'll find that you'll have much more energy.
