This clip speaks for itself! It was an advert made by the BBC called 'Rush hour' and featured David Belle who invented the sport of Parkour. I remember seeing it for the first time and being absolutely amazed as I had never seen anything like it and every time it came on I was glued to the TV. I mean this guy actually does this stuff! Anyway, I thought you might like it to so here it is!
WOW!!! THat is Fantastic!!! Thank You B-K....I have never seen that before...!TERRIFIC!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing that it makes you wish they would stop the CGI effects and wire work in movies don't you think??!

ReplyDeleteWow, that's fascinating. I can't believe it's an actual sport??
ReplyDeleteDo you really think that's true ? I can't believe it ! There must be tricks I am sure. I immagine my neighbour's son doing it and passing by my window lol !
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my "How many lovers" question.
Absolutely impressive! I haven't seen anything like it (without the help of special effects !) Great! and I have a sore knee after yesterday's gym class... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI can assure you all that this guy really does do these things and that there are no tricks involved! Here is some info. from Wikipedia:
ReplyDeleteParkour is a physical discipline inspired by human movement, focusing on uninterrupted, efficient forward motion over, under, around and through obstacles (both man-made and natural) in one's environment. Such movement may come in the form of running, jumping, climbing and other more complex techniques. The goal of parkour is to adapt one's movement to any given obstacle.
According to founder David Belle, the spirit of parkour is guided in part by the notions of "escape" and "reach", that is, the idea of using physical agility and quick thinking to get out of difficult situations, and to be able to go anywhere that one desires. The practice of parkour requires considerable physical and mental dedication, and many adherents describe it as a "way of life."

ReplyDeleteCool ad. It reminds me a little of an ad for a deodorant that shows here - the tag is "serious protection". But in the deodorant ad they actually jump through closed windows etc.

kind of 'dont try this at home'! Theres a French group who do this a lot too, I saw a documentary about them once. Quite amazing. I expect David Belle is French and part of (founder of?) that group.

I saw him and a bunch of other guys in a documentary earlier this year. They make my heart stop! I am glad that they didn't start this when my boy was young because he was fearless and would have tried it.

hey BobKat - I love that footage. There's other bits of parkour too - and in Top Gear they chased a parkour guy with a car - the parkour guy won, needless to say.
